Think about Computer Science. I grew up learning about tech pioneers: but the people I learned about were mostly men. It's easy for young people to become conditioned to imagine that the landscape of computing itself is and always will be a male-dominated field.
But tradition CS history ignores the contributions of some key players: the women -- once called "human computers" in the 40s and decades after -- who powered software work, computing, and information technology.
Women's stories have been obscured. But it's time to bring these journeys and impactful lessons to forefront of our attentions.
In the face of challenges, underestimation, and bias, female leaders across the world have been standing up. For equity. For justice. For change.
In their own ways, women are making decisions in the rooms where things happen. Not just being in those rooms: but taking charge of them.
